International Aid

This organization provides aid to people and communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America to obtain solutions that will end their poverty, disease and hunger.  Uniquely, World Neighbors doesn’t accomplish this mission by simply handing out donations or providing material aid such as food or clothes.  They meet with individuals and communities to help them find practical solutions to their problems. This allows communities to find sustained change rather than a temporary solution.

Kiva.org is a non-profit that provides low income entrepreneurs in developing countries with funding to start their businesses.  The website allows you to select which individuals you would like to loan money to.  You will receive updates on their progress and the loan will be returned in a specified time period.  After the money is returned, you have the option of re-loaning the money to different individuals or having it returned to you.  Kiva.org is revolutionizing giving to developing countries because you are loaning money to develop businesses that will impact local economies while supporting the aspirations of individuals.

Heifer International works to alleviate poverty throughout the world in two ways.  The first is by giving livestock and vegetables to people in need.  The second is by teaching these individuals agricultural techniques to help them raise and sustain their livestock and vegetables  over the course of time.

In order to maximize our impact in the struggle against poverty, we support and donate to established non-profit organizations that have similar missions.  The organizations we support follow the same good charitable practices as outlined in the BBB Wise Giving Alliance Standards.  Below are links and brief descriptions of some of the organizations to which we provide funding.  We are continually researching  other non-profits with missions of alleviating poverty to promote on our website, so continue to check this page for new ways of becoming involved.  We will update the list of organizations we support every few months.  If you would like to learn more or support any of these causes, please visit their websites and donate  directly to them.

This organization is dedicated to creating and sustaining peace in Uganda; a country that has been at war for much of the past 20 years.  During this time, 90% of the rebel troops were children.  Invisible Children is fighting for peace so that these and other Ugandan children can freely go to school and accomplish their life dreams.  Donations to the organization are used to provide the children of this country a better life and also to promote awareness about this crisis.
